Recent state-level legislations require manufacturers to disclose any intentionally added chemicals listed on the CA DTSC Candidate Chemical List which may be present in any product surface that comes into contact with food, foodstuffs, or beverages. The presence of these substances does not mean that Global's products pose a health risk with normal use.

All Global Cutlery products meet or exceed the requirements of applicable product performance and safety industry standards, as well as the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act.

However, the State of California has listed over 900 chemicals that must be disclosed under Proposition 65 to California residents. The list, which is updated annually, includes a wide variety of chemicals that can be found in many consumer products, including cutlery and kitchen knives.

WHY DOES GLOBAL CUTLERY INCLUDE THIS WARNING? We provide Prop 65 warning labels to inform consumers that certain products contain chemicals on the State of California's Prop 65 list. This does not mean the product is unsafe. Global knives are crafted from CROMOVA 18 high-carbon stainless steel, a proprietary alloy developed for exceptional edge retention, corrosion resistance, and hygiene. Nickel and chromium are essential components of this alloy and are what give the steel its performance and finish. These elements are present in all stainless steel products. The label simply ensures that Global Cutlery USA is in compliance with California's Prop 65 warning label requirements.

WHAT IS CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65? In 1986, California voters approved the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act (known as "Proposition 65"). Proposition 65 is a "Right to Know" statute; its purpose is to make sure people are aware, before they purchase, that the product they come into contact with contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The statute requires a warning label even if the amount of the chemical is miniscule.

The State of California has listed over 900 chemicals that must be disclosed under Prop 65. The list is updated annually and includes chemicals found in many everyday consumer products, including cutlery, kitchen utensils, cookware, and other household goods.
